A dangerous high with a legal substance

A substance that is "legal" in most states has experts at Cincinnati Children's Poison Information center concerned that young people can use it to get high. Two local moms teamed up to help other parents learn more about it. The pills are Kratom and pharmacists with Cincinnati Children's Poison Information Center want people to know what's inside them could potentially have dangerous side effects. They said it was so easy to get kids might be taking it and parents might not even know about it.

US Marshals seize dietary supplements containing kratom

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today that U.S. Marshals, at the agency’s request, seized nearly 90,000 bottles of dietary supplements labeled as containing kratom. The product, manufactured for and held by Dordoniz Natural Products LLC, located in South Beloit, Illinois, is marketed under the brand name RelaKzpro and worth more than $400,000.

Feds seize 90K bottles containing natural painkiller kratom

U.S. Marshals this week seized almost 90,000 bottles of a dietary supplement called Relakzpro from a manufacturer in South Beloit, just north of Rockford. The drinks contain kratom, an herbal supplement from Southeast Asia which has a long history as a mild painkiller. But in recent years, it has gained popularity among drug addicts who are trying to treat their addiction, but then find themselves addicted to kratom.
